Specialist, Sales Engineer (Finance)

BACKGROUND
The Sales Engineer position is focused on business development in the North American region. The sales consultant we're in search of will report directly to the manager of the NA Technology Sales Engineer team. This role will be primarily focused on Northern Trust's Front Office Solutions (FOS), a software and services offering that provides alternatives administration, investment analytics including liquidity, risk, performance, and portfolio planning, as well as CRM capabilities. FOS is a highly innovative product Northern Trust has created and evolved to meet complex asset owners' needs and it is a top area of strategic focus for Northern Trust's Asset Servicing division
The primary responsibilities for the role include:
•Partner with Sales Representative on prospective clients, being jointly responsible for executing a sales strategy.
•Delivering engaging and influential technology demos with a focus on Northern Trust's Front Office Solution (FOS) and related product set
•Understanding and interpreting a prospective client's needs as well as general market trends in order to design and provide bespoke technology solutions
•Preparing and running influential demos and other more in-depth engagements with clients, prospects and consultants as the primary audience
•Providing input and direction towards Northern Trust's product strategy
•Working closely with the RFP (Request for Proposal) and Marketing teams in order to ensure a coherent, consistent message is communicated externally regarding Northern Trust's technology offerings
•Liaising with the business to drive innovation and promote leading technology in the industry
•Keeping informed of changing market conditions and trends, the competitive landscape, and tracking new concepts within the industry to ensure Northern Trust is continuously evolving our offering and able to better serve our clients
•Work closely with client services team during the onboarding process in order to ensure a smooth transition
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a fair amount of the following qualities:
•A deep understanding of front to back multi-asset class solutions, with a primary focus on alternatives analytics
•In depth knowledge of investment and operations teams' needs and challenges, especially in the asset owner space (i.e. endowments, foundations, pension plans, family offices)
•Demonstrated ability to understand a prospective client's needs and strategic goals and translate that into how it can be supported on FOS
•Demonstrated ability to represent Northern Trust at the C-Suite and Director level of our prospective clients
•Demonstrated problem solving techniques to creatively identify and design a solution that can best meet a prospective client's needs
•Demonstrated ability to create a holistic, client focused story that highlights the value proposition to the prospect
•A proven self-starter with the energy and passion to continually create new narratives to showcase and articulate the value of our product offering
•Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines
•A proven track record in sales presentations/ demos
•Willing and available to travel to client meetings, conference and roadshows in the North American region
•A deep understanding of client functions, needs and pain points - and potential technology solutions
•Excellent verbal and written English language skills;
•10+ years of experience designing analytics solutions - CIPM or CFA certification preferred
