Destinating Mail Sorter (Administrative)
Loading, unloading, mobilizing, staging, sorting, scanning, and/or building bulk mail handling units (HU), mail transport equipment (MTE), and air containers (ULD) to meet established service delivery tasks, timelines and customer expectations.
Destinating Sort Responsibilities
Processes and distributes incoming bulk mail volume from local plants for tender to air carrier, following specific job instructions, by performing the following duties:
Ensures the protection & safeguard of personnel, US Mail, and property; in that order.
Assists drivers in unloading mail transport equipment (MTE) from tractor-trailers.
Positions MTE in a neat & organized fashion in the staging areas
Reviews air container dispatch & routing tags for accuracy prior to scanning and building mail.
Reports bad air container dispatch & routing tags to the supervisor.
Inspects air containers for damage & reports damage to the supervisor.
Ensures all mail units within each air container are scanned under the correct parent barcode.
Ensures that each mail unit is reviewed for proper destination & routing prior to being placed in the intended air container, by verifying the routing tags on the mail.
Ensures that all mail units are handled with care so as not to damage any parcels.
Ensures all available space within each air container is utilized and filled with mail.
Communicates missent, unlabelled, damaged & other exception mail units found to the supervisor for proper handling and distribution.
Ensures empty MTE leaving the building area are directed to their intended storage area.
Ensures building areas are stocked & replenished with full mail MTE once empty MTE are removed.
Pulls large air containers across ball-decking/slave-pallets to the truck loading area.
Ensures safe and proper loading of air containers on tractor-trailers.
Ensures all mail is cleared from both the floor & containers at the end of the operation.
Maintains a neat work area to prevent possible tripping hazards and obstructions.
Other duties as assigned.
General Hiring Requirements
Stringent Background check, pre-employment D&A screen, and legal US work status required.
Minimum five-year US residency required.
Must meet Selective Service requirements (see www.sss.gov).
Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.
Must be available to work the hours needed for the position to ensure completion of daily operations.
Unhindered availability: Tuesday – Sunday 19:00-02:00 (7 pm-2 am)

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, training guides, and posted procedures. Ability to write legibly in English on routine operational logs, lists or forms. Ability to speak and understand English to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees, supervisors and customers.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to understand and follow assignments and instructions in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to exercise good judgment and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and communicate. Ability to work in a physical, fast-paced, dead-line based work environment and pay attention to detail. The employee frequently is required to bend, reach, and lift 25+ lbs. on a repetitive basis. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

All mail processing is conducted within the secure confines of a 30,000-sq.ft. warehouse. While work is primarily performed indoors, the employee is subject to all weather conditions and should therefore dress appropriately. Operational times are subject to variation in the event of fluctuating volume or transportation delays. The employee will frequently navigate through changing floor plans based on daily equipment stockpiles & inventory. The employee may regularly traverse over roller-deck and slave-pallet surfaces. The employee will likely perform job functions inside ULDs (air containers). Determined by assignment, the employee may regularly or occasionally perform job functions inside docked semi-trailers & box truck beds. The employee must be able to maintain awareness of surroundings always.
