Healthy Living Director (Project Management)
Minimum age of 21 years old
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion or Health Education or three years of general work experience or a combination of education and work experience in related field.
Must have previous experience with the hiring, supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff.
The ability to connect with and relate to all generations is essential.
Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed.
Must have current YMCA of the USA Foundations of Group Exercise OR current ACE Group Fitness Instructor, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor certification, NETA Group Exercise certification, ACSM Group Exercise certification.
Must have current certification of personal training in one or more of the following: AAPTE, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, AFAA, NASM, NETA, Cooper Institute, IFPA, NCCPT, NCSF, NESTA
Experience with program design, implementation and retention.
Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, expense control, public relations, promotion, public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, fundraising and record-keeping.
Must have ability to deliver programs of the highest quality and have a knowledge/background of group exercise and personal training.
General knowledge of fitness principles and training adaptations including basic anatomy and physiology.
Four or more years of experience leading group fitness classes.
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
Executes a High Level of Engagement through our Fit Path Program working with our membership team to set members up on their Fit Path.
Establishes a sustainable Revenue Based Small Group Training Program utilizing all aspects of the branch.
Develops implements, directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Identify strategic collaborative partnerships that congruently align with the YMCA's strategic priorities.
Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, supervises, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
Facilitates collaborative communication and provides leadership.
Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
Administer the approved budget and take appropriate action to maintain the fiscal integrity of the department.
Manage equipment and facilities in areas of responsibility including preventative maintenance and repair and replacement planning.
Continually develop personalized healthy living programs in order to meet the needs of all members.
Participate as a staff team leader in the YMCA annual support campaign.
Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
