Senior Utilities Service Worker- Underground Utilities (Project Management)
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
This is skilled work performing a variety of maintenance, construction, repair or location tasks within the Underground Utilities Division. An employee in this class facilitates the daily work schedule. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and decisions are made within the scope of specific assignments. Assignments are received in oral and written form and work is subject to frequent review and inspection by a Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

May direct one or more subordinates and participates in the daily work routine.Performs all tasks necessary for the water and sewer systems.Organizes work orders and the daily work schedule to maximize work performance.Maintains a safe work environment.Assists Forman with day to day work assignments.Operates and maintains chlorinators on a daily basis as assigned.Responds to work order and service requests to investigate, install or make repairs to water or sewer lines.Operates sewer cleaning equipment.Operates line stopping and tapping equipment.May be required to take weekend callout as needed.Performs related work as required.
This is an emergency essential position that requires performance of emergency duties and actions to prepare, repair, and recover the City before, during, and after any adverse storm events (hurricane, tornado, ice storm, etc.) or other conditions (natural or man made).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment and materials used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of daily work activities of the division.Considerable knowledge of the standard tools and practices used in the operation, the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to the work.Ability to plan, organize and train one or more subordinates.Ability to understand and transmit oral and written instructions, keep simple records, and make reports.Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.Ability to work during inclement weather conditions.Skilled in the use and care of pertinent tools and equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or possession of a recognized equivalency diploma. Three (3) years experience working with the repair and maintenance of water distribution and sewer transmission lines. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must possess and maintain a Florida drivers license. Ability to obtain a valid Water Distribution System Operator Level III license in accordance with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection regulations as a condition of continued employment.
