Theater Specialist (Education)
The Department of English at Saint Anselm College invites applications for a Theater Specialist, a position that serves as both the Director of the Abbey Players and a part-time Lecturer within the department, to begin August 2020. This position is full-time, 10 months a year. Expectations include directing, producing, and mentorship of the College's successful co-curricular theater arts program, the Abbey Players, which in its 71-year history, has regularly staged plays, musicals, and other productions. The position will also coordinate the department's minor in Theater Arts.
The successful candidate will teach a 1-2 load consisting of Beginning Acting, Beginning Directing, and dramatic literature written in English as per the candidate's area of specialization and interest, whether “core” texts or contemporary materials. The department is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity, mission, and excellence of the College's academic community.
Submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae that lists qualifications, theater production history, academic publications and presentations, a separate, one-page statement about teaching experience, and academic transcripts to the attention of Dr. Bindu Malieckal, Department Chair, English via the college website at www.anselm.edu/hr. Three letters of recommendation will be requested from candidates selected for the first round of interviews, to be conducted via Skype. Finalists will be invited to campus for in-person interviews. Applications should be received by January 10, 2020 for full consideration.
A Ph.D. is preferred but applicants with an MFA or MA will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.
