Maintenance Planner (Maintenance)



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a file of standard work order plans for regularly recurring repair jobs to simplify the maintenance planning process. 
  • Review regularly with the maintenance manager and supervisors the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and material used for completed jobs, to determine corrective measures needed to improve the accuracy of estimating work and materials. 
  • Will establish and update machine history requirements as needed.
  • Estimate costs, including labor, materials, and contract services, for each work order. 
  • Communicate Work Planning Package information to Maintenance Supervisor. 
  • Inform Maintenance Manager of abnormal or critical situations. 
  • Seek Maintenance Manager's advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority. 
  • Review work order feedback information to improve future planning efforts. 

Job Summary: The PM will oversee the preventative maintenance program creating/updating procedures, issuing/transferring assignments, and monitoring compliance along with being the maintenance administrator for the CMMS system also assisting in other compliance programs such as Lock Out Tag Out and Inactive Programs.

Essential Job Functions Supporting Responsibilities

  1. Managing maintenance backlog, planning, scheduling and updating maintenance tasks.
  2. Assign and issue PM work orders to the appropriately trained maintenance and facilities personnel.
  3. Coordinate schedules with production and testing team to minimize down time.
  4. Manage and maintain the CMMS (Manager plus) program for compliance and mechanical integrity.
  5. Develop and update PM routines, Safety and Corrective maintenance procedures of equipment.
  6. Maintain and track critical equipment service manuals and parts lists.
  7. Perform Internal PM audits.
  8. Collect data of maintenance performance key metrics and update the maintenance dashboard frequently.
  9. Manage maintenance backlog, planning, scheduling and update maintenance tasks.
  10. Coordinate all planned maintenance and minor construction activities in designated facility area. 
  11. Identify and develop standard work routines and task lists. 
  12. Assist with supply chain coordination (with Materials Management and Procurement). 
  13. Assist with work scheduling as needed. 
  14. Attend Weekly Scheduling Meetings. 
  15. Analyze work order feedback and execute follow-up actions. 
  16. Plan shutdown-related work. 
  17. Prepare budgeting, tracking, and analysis. 
  18. Share common work planning information with other Maintenance Planners. 

Parts Store Room:

Develop Central Parts cage will provide Management: Work orders in CMM support component planning. Stock items as well as non-stock items can be planned on work orders. Stock items create reservations instantly on saving work orders. Materials are issued to work orders from stock. If parts are not available in stock, system creates purchase requisitions. Purchase requisitions are created immediately on saving work orders for non-stock items. System offers functionality to create planned, unplanned and emergency work orders.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Functionality to support Spare parts management       

  • Ability to plan for parts based on a variety of factors such as criticality, cost, consumption, combination of these factors
  •  Integration of production and operation planning to optimize equipment availability
  • Optimize spare parts storage with respect to usable life as well as storage space constraints
  • Ability to dynamically update part availability due to material transfers
  • Handle shelf-life expiry and maximize usable life
  • Ability to track service levels and parts consumption and to update planning dynamically
  • Ability to carry out cycle counting based on criticality, parts consumption, parts value, etc.
  • Use of performance metrics such as overall equipment efficiency (OEE), MTTR, MTTF, unplanned downtime, repair cost, etc.

Note: this role will support both our Fontana and Riverside plants.

Performance measures. 

The following key performance indicators (KPIs) allow the Maintenance Planner to monitor and evaluate his/her performance: 

  • Accuracy of Labor Estimates (planned labor time vs. actual labor time) 
  • Accuracy of Material Estimates (planned materials vs. actual materials) 
  • Work Backlog Size in Crew Weeks 
  • Preventive maintenance accomplishment, MP effectiveness, 
  • MP/MC rate.
  • Good computer & software skills, Microsoft programs

Qualifications and Required Competencies

  • Planner maintenance technician 
  • 3 years of working experience in Mining and Maintenance Planning.
  • Certificate in maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Good communication and written skills.
  • Strong computer and report writing skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of standards, methods and procedures to work situation.
  • Knowledge of CMMS Software.
  • Ability to work independently and effective team player.
  • High regard for safe work practices and procedures.
  • Willing to work extended hours to achieve tight deadlines.

The base hourly pay range for this position is $31.70 - $43.58. If you are hired, your base pay rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued wage growth.
