Senior Packaging Engineer (Architecture)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Packaging Engineer for our First Quality Consumer Products, LLC located in King of Prussia, PA.
This position will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the First Quality Packaging Engineering group, providing strategic departmental direction in order to provide packaging development and support.
Primary responsibilities include:
Manages the activities of the packaging engineering groups across multiple sites.
Investigate new material, process, and equipment opportunities (i.e. film, ink, printing, bundling, pallets, etc.).
Oversees projects of varying complexity covering the entire life cycle of product packaging including conceptual design, supplier development, process development, process deployment and continuing production support.
Involved in the earliest phases of new product related engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives, where creativity or ingenuity is normally required.
Seeks cost reduction through innovative packaging solutions.
Works concurrently with Sales and Marketing team by managing the process of development and manufacturing new packaging solutions and packaging equipment.
Define and Implement common criteria in designing packaging between sister facilities.
Define and Implement common packaging specifications.
Review packaging that is significantly different between FQ facilities and make more similar / same as appropriate.
One concern s P/U or BCP made in FQP & FQRS going to the same customer has very different packaging.
Box board weights, bag film formulas and basis weights.
Develop a process to determine low hanging fruit (best payback / easiest to do) to work through (packaging review).
Develop a process to canvas the Inco Market for best of class packaging and determine how FQ to best utilize in their packaging.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
5-7 years' experience leading the development of packaging strategy and innovation.
Experience in a change management role to transition packaging capabilities to meet strategic opportunities.
Requires an engineering degree.
Significant experience as the packaging interface between marketing and operations with clear understanding of business drivers for each group.
Educational background or experience with structural design and packaging materials.
Proven ability to drive profitable business growth with breakthrough packaging solutions.
Experience leading a cross-functional team to manage packaging development and execution.
