The Facilities Management team is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Advisor who will develop, implement and influence a long-term plan to build a culture of safety at the Richmond Fed. This position is responsible for leading all aspects of safety for operations teams, physical plant operations, and facility support services to include but not limited to HVAC/environmental systems, plumbing systems, parking garage/deck/lot operations, building access prevention security equipment, Cash Department operations equipment, vehicle maintenance, fleet/transportation operations, lock shop, landscaping and physical equipment inventory. This position is also responsible for implementing programs to instill awareness of Environmental Health and Safety across the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
Develop, maintain, and communicate District wide Facilities program on Safety and Recycling/Green initiatives. Ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste material by providing expertise and knowledge to Facilities.
Responsible for coordinating and overseeing facility testing and monitoring for compliance. This position will work collaboratively with Health Services in these coordinated efforts.
Ensure all EH&S documentation is maintained in a compliant fashion with Federal Reserve Records Retention Requirements and / or Outside Regulatory requirements (whichever is more stringent). Further, ensure that all EH&S documentation is correctly classified according to Federal Reserve requirements.
Act as subject matter expert to the District Safety Executive Oversight Group (EOG) in regards to environmental, life-safety, and occupational safety and health.
Facilitate the Safety Committee structure and organization for each of the Districts locations.
Monitor EH&S training requirements, identify training needs, and track performance. Keep management aware of completion and compliance status via metrics and dashboard(s).
Work with management to develop, prioritize, and implement EH&S programs / projects.
Assess and monitor facility/equipment repair and service history to ensure compliance.
Conduct gap assessments to evaluate regulation compliance and make recommendations to close gaps to ensure a safe work environment.
Participate as trainer to deliver compliance for required EH&S programs such as powered industrial truck, confined space, etc.
Participate in the Bank's Business Continuity Plan. Ensure employee awareness and compliance with all applicable BOCA, Life Safety, OSHA, DEQ, DOT, and DOL codes, ordinances and regulations. Provide oversight and audit for monthly inspections of facility fire suppression systems and equipment.
Serve as primary contact for Occupational Safety regulatory agencies.
