Visiting Assistant Professor in Theatre - Costume Design (Finance)
The Department of Theatre at Purdue University Fort Wayne seeks applications for a full-time, nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor in Theatre with specialty in Costume Design. The start date is August 17, 2020. Candidates with an M.F.A. and teaching experience in Costume Design are encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive and commensurate with candidates' level of experience. The annual 4/4 workload is calculated to include a combination of the following: 1) Costume design courses and possibly other Department courses, dependent upon candidate's specific areas of expertise; and 2) Three to four costume design assignments for the Department's production season. Service expectations are minimal other than special activity days in the department.
The D epartment holds approximately 75 Theatre majors, stages productions in two theatres (black box and hybrid proscenium/thrust), and offers a nationally accredited B.A. in Theatre with optional emphases in: Design and Technology; Acting; Musical Theatre ; and Directing ( and anticipates offering a B.F.A in Musical Theatre within the next three years ) .. Fort Wayne is the second-largest city in Indiana, has a low cost of living, and offers a wide variety of community festivals , shopping, restaurants, and cultural activities, as well as an extensive health care system.
