Bilingual English/Spanish Interpreter (Project Management)
Bilingual - English/Spanish required. Ability to speak read and write in Spanish, fluently.
Ability to translate between English and Spanish
Knowledge of the process of interpreting for monolingual clients.
Demonstrate ability to understand and be responsible to the needs of culturally diverse populations.
Demonstrate ability to work effectively with a variety of people, situations and members of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Ability to think creatively, organize materials and thoughts, establish priorities and meet timelines.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing. (if required)
Valid California driver's license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
Duties:
Abide by the same confidentiality agreement as any Center for Human Services employee.
Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled session time to discuss session.
Complete paperwork, work record, salary rate adjustment or interpreter summary, etc. with requesting party.
Discuss session structure, seating arrangements and cultural issues as they may relate to session dynamics.
Provides interpretation services between client and requesting party as needed.
Following the session, a maximum of 15 minutes can be used for debriefing and discussion of any concerns or observations.
Other duties as assigned or needed for completion of interpreting duties.
