Forklift Driver (Transportation)



This is a great opportunity for mechanically inclined and team oriented candidates with interest in working in a manufacturing setting.

Minimum of 3-5 years manufacturing/warehouse/forklift operator experience as applicable to respective position. This is not a temperature controlled environment. Employees are subject to seasonal weather conditions including heat or cold.

Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends.

SHIFT:

This position is for 2nd shift. Shift times are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM – Monday to Friday. Overtime is routinely expected. If overtime is required you may be asked to come in early or stay late depending on production demands or staffing shortages. Weekends are included as overtime options.

COMPENSATION:

This is a non-incentive position. You receive a base pay of $20.41 hour. The opportunity to work overtime helps to increase your income.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

This position receives and moves raw materials, parts, and packing materials to designated departments and locations. 

  • Manages multiple loading/unloading dock shipments simultaneously.
  • Operates and services power forklift trucks, uses hand trucks and other equipment.
  • May be required to use banding and wrapping equipment as needed.
  • Receives and unloads trucks of incoming material.
  • Verifies and records counts of incoming and outgoing material on ILS system.
  • Report and document discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Receive and sign bills of lading for incoming material.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Follow incoming inspection procedures manual of specific materials to select, examine, and record condition of samples.
  • Load miscellaneous materials to trucks such as scrap, empty drums, materials for other plants, etc.
  • Performs daily production cycle counts as directed by supervisor.
  • May be required to take inventory of material at periodic intervals as directed.
  • Report shortages of material of any kind and research lost items.
  • Become knowledgeable of product and product specifications.
  • Report to supervisor when substandard samples are found.
  • May handle empty skids, pallets, and miscellaneous dunnage, and stack or store as required.
  • Wires mixed batteries and wet IBTs received that require boosting and returns to stock.
  • Supplies production lines with necessary materials when required and moves miscellaneous scrap materials out of production area to warehouse or yard.
  • Maximize use of available space.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly including warehouse and yard storage.
  • May direct work of others temporarily assigned to receiving and storing functions.
  • Assist in training of new employees in warehouse activities.
  • Perform others duties as directed by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with operating power forklift trucks (minimum of 2 years with sit down electric), hand trucks, and other equipment.
  • Requires ability to manage workload effectively while incoming/outgoing loads are being handled
  • Multi-tasking is necessary to manage this area efficiently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of receiving and loading.
  • Troubleshooting or repair experience required.
  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment required.
  • Must be available for overtime before or after shift as needed.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime (up to 12 hours) including weekends due to production demands and staffing shortages.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Computer skills required to work with ILS RF terminals.

Successful Production Associates must be willing to learn new things and work in an integral team environment to get the product out in a safe and timely manner while meeting quality standards.
