JOB FUNCTION / PURPOSE The Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing internal compliance reporting and the environmental audit program, as well as leading the Environmental Specialist team and implementing proactive programs to continuously improve regulatory compliance. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages his/her team in all aspects of people management including: hiring, orientation/on-boarding, performance management, salary changes, promotions, training and development, transfers and terminations. Monitors and reviews staff work and coaches appropriate improvement.Compiles monthly compliance and KPI reports from data reported by operations, reviewing and challenging explanations, root cause analysis and corrective actions. Ensures the SharePoint compliance reporting site is maintained and up to date. Participates in the investigation of non-compliance events. Reviews unauthorized discharge / SSO reports submitted through the incident reporting system.Liaises with external auditors in preparing for environmental audits, schedules and participates in closing calls, reviews action items and tracks completion and verification of audit actions. Communicates implications of pending regulatory changes to the Compliance team and to operations management. Develops and reviews performance standards and best practice guidance for OS-US. Oversees the development of performance standards training.Supports operations in reviewing and understanding Wastewater discharge permit language and in the application and renewal review process. Provides regulatory and compliance support for Industrial Pretreatment Programs (IPP) in operations and the development of new business and enhanced services.Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Education/Experience: BA/BS Degree and 10+ years of water/wastewater and laboratory experience. Licenses/Certifications: Valid Drivers License. Technical: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet. Ability to analyze, interpret and report complex data. Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal water/wastewater regulations. Advanced knowledge of water/wastewater systems and technology. Experience developing and implementing training and audit programs. Communication: Communicates clearly & professionally. Contributes to a positive internal & external customer experience.
