DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
WGBH News is a leading, multi-platform news and information station in Boston, providing analysis and context to the complex news and issues of the day from diverse perspectives. WGBH News serves as a forum to share voices, stories, ideas, and perspective from the community. Radio Operations provides operational, logistical, technical, and scheduling support, and coordinates engineering for the Radio Services and radio-broadcast facilities of the WGBH News, including 89.7 Boston Public Radio, WCAI/WNAN Cape & Islands stations, and the Fraser Performance Studio.
JOB OVERVIEW
This position, reporting directly to the Production Director, will require execution of a broad spectrum of audio recording and mixing, pre-and-post production, and include live broadcast duties for local and national programs. While this position primarily requires editorial and technical skills, with the onus on program creation and production, this position also demands competent board operation for programs such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, with shifts assigned as needed. This position works closely with production teams such as Innovation Hub, Under the Radar, the Higher Ed/On Campus to meet the various broadcast deadlines of each production. This is a NABET union position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with quality control by contributing editorial ideas and recommending best audio practices.
Serve as board operator/Engineer for other daily programs when needed.
Project equipment and technical needs in collaboration with program producers and under the direction of Production Director.
Work with outside clients in providing audio services on various projects.
Coordinate maintenance priorities, inspections of Station Logs, supervise circuits for remote broadcast operations and locations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
A College degree is required.
