Thereisn't a shortage of ideas for new products and services to develop; the trickis picking the right ones in which to invest. This person will lead across-functional, collaborative team of empowered and accountable people whose missionis to develop new products and services that customers love and will transformthe markets we serve. The Innovation Manager must build a realistic vision of what success meansand ensure that vision becomes a reality.
Every idea for a new product or business model is really a series ofuntested hypotheses in need of proof. The team's responsibility is to prove thehypothesis by designing and running experiments to build a live prototype totest with real customers. This will include validating the value proposition,channel and technical feasibility. It's a race to product market fit. Thisprocess is commonly known as customer development or product discovery. Theobjective is the same - iteratively build and test until the assumptions arevalidated to eliminate effort wasted on commercializing products that customersdon't want.
