Environmental Scientist (Jr to Mid-Level) - OAK (Finance)

Qualified individuals will provide technical support in the areas of soil sampling, air monitoring, site assessments, and other in-field and office work including data management. The team is also responsible for the planning and oversight of operations and site health and safety.
The selected candidate's responsibilities will involve providing technical support in the areas of soil sampling, air monitoring, site assessments, and other in-field and office work including data management. Staff of the team are also responsible for the planning and oversight of operations and site health and safety.
Work will include multi-media sampling, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, preparing reports, collection of air monitoring data, contractor oversight, and related services. Work locations will either be in northern California or southern California and will require travel in the field with some home office work available.
All work is done in teams of 2, reporting through incident command system.
This position is in the field 90% of the time. Tetra Tech will provide travel, per diem, and housing accommodations when on travel. Full relocation will not be necessary.

The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience in environmental consulting, sampling, remediation. Entry level candidates without experience but with appropriate college degree also acceptable. Additional experience in GIS, data base management, working with big data, and SQL Server Data Base Management is a plus.
Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. Must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, and travel. Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications are required.
This position requires you to drive on a regular basis and will require passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check and maintaining a safe driving record.
B.A/B.S. in environmental science or related degree required. 40-hour OSHA, ICS or related training a plus. Asbestos certification preferred but not required. Current 40-hour HAZWOPER is a plus.
Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment will be required. Candidate must also meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work. Must be able to work out in the field in all weather conditions.
Work will consist of working 6 days a week (including weekends), on 3 - 4 week rotations. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements; may include weekend travel and work. Candidate may be exposed to various weather conditions in all seasons while performing field work outside.
Housing is provided in the form of a base camp with an individual bedroom and bathroom, and a shared kitchen with 1 roommate. Other amenities are also provided. Camp is within 15 minutes from Chico CA. Overflow staff will be housed in hotel rooms.
