Position description
CMA:
The medical assistant performs assigned tasks of direct and indirect care in the ambulatory setting to meet the care needs of patients under the direct supervision of a physician (medical acts) or assigned supervisor. The medical assistant participates as a member of the health care team and accepts appropriate delegation from the RN or physician in meeting needs of the patient/family. The medical assistant performs assigned tasks in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The medical assistant carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed health care personnel.
LPN:
The licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. The LPN participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family. The LPN delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The LPN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
CMA:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate or student graduating from a Medical Assistant diploma or associate degree program. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of recent medical assistant experience working in an applicable setting is required. Must be certified through the AAMA.
LPN:
Graduate or student graduating from a school of practical nursing or passed If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

CMA:
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer proficiency required, including prior experience with electronic medical record systems. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
LPN:
One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred.
License or certification
CMA:
Medical Assistant certification or registration or will obtain prior to start date. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
LPN:
Current LPN license by applicable state requirements or will obtain prior to start date. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross
