The Eversweet Manufacturing Technology Engineer is a strong technical leader responsible for utilizing and transforming technology into business advantage within Cargill located in Blair, NE. Specific responsibilities of this position include:
Optimization of current operations in conjunction with the Operations and Manufacturing Excellence teams to generate incremental value Support and enable the Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) program Enable new business opportunities through opportunity identification and technical feasibility analysis Develop technical capabilities and technical knowledge at the facility Sustain the base performance and ensure no regression in operations performance The initial focus for this role will be the successful start-up and operation of the Cargill Eversweet production facility in Blair, NE.
Principal Accountabilities
35%Optimize Current and new production Operations: Lead efforts in identifying value creation opportunities through implementation and use of continuous improvement tools and driving execution through specific initiatives routed through the value generation pipeline at the site. Lead the site in developing tools to monitor performance and identifying opportunities through the development and analysis of key performance indicators, manufacturing cost reports, and stable operations activities to create year on year sustained value.
30% Develop capabilities at the Facility: Lead the process of documenting, transferring, and training employees on technical knowledge, including implementation of standards that govern operations of the facility. Provide coaching and mentorship from a technical perspective and provide leadership in identifying, developing, and retaining a talent pipeline for technical and operations positions.
15% Enable New Business Opportunities: Provide technical leadership in identifying and developing scope and business case of projects to capture additional value through new products or services, including identification of new technologies that can be leveraged in conjunction with the Global Manufacturing Technology team. Will also include participation in project justification and gate reviews, preliminary design activities, interaction with the capital effectiveness team in validating the detailed design, and providing technical oversight during installation and start-up activities.
10% Sustain the Base: Provide support for the facility as needed in troubleshooting operations, including participation in Root Cause Analysis and 5 Why activities where technical support is needed. Lead efforts in auditing the operation against standards on a regular basis and provide feedback to the Global Manufacturing Technology group on additions or modifications needed to standards to continually improve the content. Monitor and lead execution on action items from Key Performance Indicator monitoring to insure peak performance.
10% Support and Enable Process Safety: Provide technical leadership in the application of the Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) program, including assembly of Process Safety Information, participation in Process Risk Assessments, identification of mitigating actions to close gaps identified in Risk Assessments, and providing technical leadership to the closure of gaps.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor or higher degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems Engineering
OR Bahelor's or higher degree with other technical discipline that has a strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mass/material balance and process design
8 or more years of industrial technical experience
Six Sigma Green Belt certification or willingness to complete Green Belt certification
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
Master's or higher degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems Engineering
Experience with industrial scale fermentation
Cross-functional experience in areas such as project engineering, operations supervision, continuous improvement, or maintenance and reliability
Six Sigma Black Belt qualification
Process Safety management experience
Competent in food safety, Root Cause Analysis, Management of Change, and Process Risk Analysis

Ability to understand and integrate technical, operational, and engineering activities
Experience using statistical software tools and statistical analysis to drive technical solutions. Trained in Statistically Supported Decision Making or Data Analytics along with knowledge of advanced statistical software tools such as Minitab
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and/or databases and competency in process modeling tools
Demonstrated experience in using process data to identify and execute on value generation opportunities
Understanding of process modeling tools and when to apply
