Research Lab Technician I (Finance)
The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (INI, www.ini.usc.edu) are world leaders in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. LONI's unique multidisciplinary environment and cutting edge resources allow for integration of clinical, psychological and genotypic information with neuroimaging phenotypes for research questions in neurology, psychiatry and developmental neurobiology.
The Mouse Connectome Project has the longstanding goal of creating a 3D digital connectome of the wild-type mouse brain. Results from the project can be used as the foundation for comparison between wild-type and any neurodegenerative disease phenotypes. Neural tracers are injected into each animal with the intent of mapping out mesoscale neural networks. Raw images of the stained and mounted tissue are then registered and standardized for upload to our website, http://www.mouseconnectome.org/, as an open resource. We are seeking a research technician to run the image processing workflow as part of a team effort.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Final responsibility over all the image processing workflow's output in a team-based setting. Tracks and processes raw images of brain tissue through multiple programs intended to register and standardize based on stereotaxic coordinates. Uploads finalized tracer/tissue data to the public lab website. Adds and maintains accurate records of processed tissue in existing lab databases. Provides input and feedback with updates to the lab's database and software.
Commitment of 1 year is required; 2 years is preferred.
