R&D Sr. Research Associate, HomeBiome (Finance)
RB is establishing a new team to lead foundational research in several key areas: Virology, Mycology, and home and human Microbiome. You will be a part of a team focused on expanding current capabilities and identifying new areas that may be used to develop innovative products and product claims. Using a platform approach, this team will be charged with building relevant research programs, capability, and partnerships.
R&D Research Associate, HomeBiome- Responsibilities
The factors that affect the ways in which building characteristics influence the composition and function of indoor microbial communities, and the ways in which these microbial communities relate to human health and well-being are not fully understood making them a rich area for research.
• Establish a research program focused on factors affecting the Microbiome of the Built Environment (MoBe). Actively engage with KOLs within MoBe academic community to identify gaps in this emerging science.
• Design experiments, lead study execution, data analysis, author technical reports and product summaries.
• Build capability and expertise through capital improvement, external partnerships, and publication.
• Collaborate with a diverse scientific team including virologists, mycologists, and bacteriologists each with a unique workstream. Communicate effectively across the team, with management, and external partners to accomplish goals.
• Maintain professional expertise and substantial knowledge of principles and theories through familiarity with competing technologies and/or products, review of current scientific literature, and attendance at scientific seminars and meetings.
• Interact closely with internal stakeholders to develop research focus and deliverables.
• Exercise practical judgment within broadly defined practices and policies and exhibits creativity and foresight in selecting approaches and techniques for obtaining solutions
Qualifications
• Candidates should have an MS (or PhD with no experience) in biological systems engineering, biology, Microbiology, virology, immunology, cell biology, or a related discipline
• 2+ years of relevant research experience
• Experience using current molecular biology methods and cell culture techniques
• Awareness of globally important infectious disease agents, routes of transmission, and control strategies.
• Innovative mindset, collaborative team player, effective critical thinker, clear communicator (oral and written), and possess excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Training and experience handling pathogenic organisms in a biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) environment
• Proactive mindset to actively seek out new opportunities to partner and build influence within scientific community.
