Design Engineer - Performance Products (Engineering)



WeldFit is currently seeking an experienced yet motivated Design Engineer - Performance Products preferably in the Houston or Austin area. This candidate will be under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager - Products, the Design Engineer is responsible for performing calculations and detailed designs of various pipeline products. Expand and enhance product lines with new and innovative ideas and approaches. Review purchase orders, correct outstanding issues, verify exceptions and clarifications, and follow through and acknowledge changes with customer through timely communication. Work well within a team atmosphere and contribute accordingly. Work in a respectful and professional manner with fellow employees, management and clients.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Use sound engineering practice to design equipment that meet customer applications, specifications, standards, and applicable design codes.
  • Prepare documents and drawings for customer approval, estimating, and manufacturing.
  • Perform calculations to ensure proper equipment design, maximizing safety and reliability.
  • Review incoming customer RFQ and ensure its accuracy for all technical items.
  • Formulate and conduct test plans for new and existing products.
  • Write technical documentation to support customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure product quality and identify areas for manufacturability improvement.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of design engineering experience
  • Prior experience designing pressure containing equipment, gas separation assemblies, and/or pipeline components
  • Competent with CAD software (AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Strong grasp of core mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, design for manufacture, etc)
  • Understanding of common steel fabrication processes including welding, machining, and extruding
  • Working knowledge of B31.4/8 and ASME BPVC.
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel. Ability to code in VBA is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid drivers license and passport
