Multimedia Specialist - University Libraries (Finance)

Description:

Develops and provides web-based multimedia content and services in support of the online marketing and communications strategies of a department or unit.

1. Provides web design and maintenance support for a department or unit including creating interactive media and interface designs.
2. Researches and develops themes and content ideas for online and print publications including conducting interviews, writing, editing, and publishing articles for various multimedia formats for instruction, Internet, news releases, recruiting, and marketing initiatives.
3. Provides photographic services to produce materials integrated across a variety of multimedia formats.
4. Provides videography services including motion graphic rending and audio/video conversion and editing.
5. Uses advanced multimedia software applications to create and publish graphic designs in accordance with departmental goals and objectives.
6. Develops and maintains content distribution networks through social media channels including content for feeds and snippets in various social media sites.
7. Researches and recommends new media technologies to advance program initiatives. Coordinates with faculty, staff, and external clients on media-related projects.
8. Creates and maintains a digital library of photographs, video, graphic designs, and program collateral.
9. Maintains all media related equipment, facilities, and supplies.
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

University of Houston Libraries is seeking an experienced and talented Multimedia Specialist to join its Communications team. This role is integral to supporting the Libraries' internal and external communications, engagement, social media, and creative services in alignment with the vision and mission of the Libraries and the strategic priorities of the University. The Multimedia Specialist develops visually engaging, brand-appropriate concepts for photo and video assets, and carries out projects to achieve desired objectives. The person in this role will be responsible for production and post-production of a range of visual assets - including portraits, collections, spaces, events, student life, and research projects - and will work closely with colleagues to translate objectives into creative executions.

Duties Specific to This Position:
- Manages the photographic component of print and digital publications from concept to completion; supports web, social media, and engagement content by providing suitable imagery
- Plans, produces, and edits high-quality video content for use across multiple platforms, including promotional and instructional materials, online publications, and social media
- Functions as producer on photo and video projects by evaluating objectives, target audience, format, and content, while staying within budget, time, and facility limitations
- Collaborates with writers, graphic designers, and on-camera and voice participants to evaluate project needs and offers guidance on deliverable production
- Ensures that production equipment and methods are technologically current; manages and organizes photo and video assets, including raw files, edited content, and archival material
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications Specific to This Position:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Remote pilot certificate (FAA Part 107)
- Advanced editing experience in Adobe Premier Pro
- Advanced understanding of social media video optimization, trends, and audience engagement strategies
- Experience in higher education or corporate photography
- Experience with motion graphics or animation

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
