Scheduler - Full Time (Project Management)
LOCATION OR DEPARTMENT: Centralized Scheduling Department
EXEMPT STATUS/GRADE: Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for scheduling exams with patients and referring clinics. Obtaining prior authorizations and Reception duties.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Scheduling
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Answer phones, schedule exams, and educate patients and referring clinics on exam procedures and instructions.
Obtain and update patient demographics.
Obtain and maintain medical records in document management.
Obtain orders for exams that are scheduled.
Obtain prior authorizations as required by healthplans and where applicable
Work with radiologists, clinic staff, referring clinics and patients on scheduling issues.
Confirm patient appointments with staff, referring clinics and/or patients.
Able to work independently and as a team.
Incorporate company values into daily interactions with internal and external customers.

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible and accountable for protecting the privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI) pertaining to patients and employees.
EDUCATION:
H.S Degree or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1-year HUC, scheduling or related medical setting experience required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
HUC or related medical administrative certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Radiology scheduling experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Basic knowledge of anatomy is preferred.
Excellent customer service/patient care and decision-making skills required.
Ability to prioritize tasks; work independently and in a team required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective communication with patients, referring clinics, employees, supervisors and the radiologists required.
Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented required.
Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure a safe work environment
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must be competent in using a computer keyboard, email and medical scheduling systems.

Low-Potential exposure to ionizing radiation exams rooms and/or involved in the use of ionizing radiation common to a radiology setting.
TRAVEL:
None for the North.
Very little for the South but could between Edina, Bloomington and Burnsville.
