Assistant Director, Meelia Center (Education)
Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full-time, year-round Assistant Director of the Meelia Center. The Assistant Director will assist the Meelia Center Director in the management and oversight of Saint Anselm's academic and co-curricular community engagement, which includes the creation, implementation, and support of remote community engagement opportunities.
Responsibilities include contributing to the training, preparation and support of participating students, faculty, and community partners. Provide training and on-going support to the student leadership team, which includes training students about complex community problems and issues of social justice, remote engagement, and incorporating remote service-learning into the classroom. Help to plan and facilitate service-learning reflections, and train student leaders to serve as facilitators both on-campus and through remote engagement opportunities. Working with community partners to ensure effective utilization of service-learners and volunteers, assist in evaluating the community engagement experience, and increasing awareness of the Meelia Center's programs.
Master's degree preferred, plus at least 1-2 years of experience administering community engagement at the postsecondary level or equivalent community program management experiences. Must possess knowledge of community engagement, service learning principles, and assessment of student learning outcomes, and experience with student leadership development and support. Requires experience with developing and maintaining partnerships with the local community agencies and non-profit organizations to support engagement. Requires strong communication skills, ability to have difficult conversations and give supportive feedback, and the ability to facilitate dialogues about challenging community topics. A strong understanding of community issues and social justice is crucial to the role. Strong writing, organizational, planning, administrative, and public speaking skills needed. Also requires a solid understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of a small Catholic, liberal arts college along with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of College administrators, faculty, staff and students, and to represent the College to a variety of outside constituencies.
