In order to fulfill the need for consistent media development, creation, and repurposing of media across Jones & Bartlett Learning and other Ascend Business Units, the Content Services team requires a Media Development Editor to manage multiple high-level projects concurrently, prioritize effectively, utilize vendors and freelancers to complete specific media development tasks, and mentor junior-level team members. He or she provides a high-level of expertise and insight in all areas of media creation, training internal and external key stakeholders. Develops a focus on employing creative problem solving to generate innovative solutions for representing concepts in an educational environment under the management of the Content Services Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare media manuscript for content submission for vendors and freelancers, by attending product launch meetings, overseeing vendors and freelancers, managing additional information from product, authors/partners/SMEs, and production required to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Apply creative knowledge and expertise to the various stages of development and production.
• Negotiate with vendors and freelancers and create and adhere to budgets and schedules.
• Troubleshoot independently with an understanding of when to elevate issues to manager. Demonstrate a proven ability to constantly reassess priorities.
• Work with cross-functional teams to schedule, troubleshoot, expedite, answer process/technology questions and take an active role in process improvement. Identify issues in existing workflows or processes, and propose solutions. Enforce schedules, team policies, and processes within the company and with our vendors.
• Train and mentor junior-level employees. May be asked to train other departments on Media Development and Content Services processes and initiatives. Serve as a delegate of the Media Development team. Communicate regularly with, and provide timely support to, employees from product, production, digital products, sales, technology, and marketing departments.
Education & Experience:
• Three-to-four years of related experience in creative field.
• Four-year degree or equivalent.
• Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud with an emphasis on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop expertise required. Strong understanding of Microsoft Office with an emphasis of Excel and Outlook.
• FileMaker experience is desirable.
