Sr Petrophysicist - Geoscience Technology (Manufacturing)
Job Summary
This position is for a Staff Petrophysicist in the Reservoir Characterization Group within Geoscience Technology located in The Woodlands, TX. The candidate will work in a team environment, doing integrated petrophysical description and characterization of reservoirs as part of the building and refining of various scale reservoir models for business needs. Some level of operational oversight and planning, as well as petrophysical analysis of ongoing drilling operations might be required. These duties will be conducted as a member of both defined and virtual project teams.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:
Seven (7) years or more of relevant experience preferred.
Proficiency in reservoir characterization, core to log integration of rock properties and core-based rock typing analysis is required. Experience in conducting core-integrated petrofacies analysis is highly desired as is experience in deepwater basins.
Proficiency in computer-based petrophysical interpretation is required. Experience in Interactive Petrophysics, Petrel, and/or Techlog software packages a plus.
Working knowledge of reservoir quality prediction, including basic petrography, Touchstone software and diagenesis is highly desired.
Ability to successfully interact with representatives of other disciplines, internal teams, vendors, partner companies, foreign governments, and work well in integrated teams is required.
Good database and data management skills required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
Provide fully integrated petrophysical analyses of reservoirs including core data evaluation and integration into petrophysical models.
Work with multi-disciplinary teams (geologists, modelers and engineers) to generate regional studies and field wide integrated petrophysical models for new basin/play evaluation, field development and production purposes.
Work with development/exploration teams and Petrophysics group to support exploration & development activities and to maximize knowledge and technology transfer.
Evaluate core programs and effectively interface with internal specialists and core analysis vendors during core description sampling, testing, and analysis.
Interface with service companies as part of petrophysical support for reservoir characterization efforts.
Education
B.S. in Petroleum Engineering, or M.S. or PhD degree in Geology or related field.
Relocation
This position may be eligible for relocation.
Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 20%.
Work Schedule
This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.
