UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (Hillman) is seeking a Communications Specialist to join a growing research communications team. Hillman is the region's only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and one of the country's largest integrated network of cancer treatment centers. The candidate will work with the Director of Communications to support and manage communications functions for Hillman Cancer Center including:
manage the Hillman Research website (hillmanresearch.upmc.edu) and news blog; support an upcoming redesign
create and deploy cancer focused content for Hillman's social media channels on a regular basis, and maintain a social content calendar
assist in creating and deploying newsletters about Hillman research
write articles for the blog about Hillman faculty and research advances
create and edit videos with Hillman researchers and physicians The candidate will work in a highly matrixed environment, collaborating closely with marketing and communications colleagues at UPMC, Hillman and the University of Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will be creative, a team player and have a can-do mind set with a willingness to learn new skills and problem solve on the job. A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or public relations is preferred as well as 1-2 years' experience working in a communications role. Experience writing and editing articles as well as experience in healthcare and/or academic research institutions is preferred.Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or public relations.
