Painter (Manufacturing)
The Painter Maintenance Technician position at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is an integral part of the Engineering Team. This position is responsible for daily and preventative maintenance in regards to all areas of the resort specifically related to areas such as wallpapering, special effects painting, or specialized textures. Duties Prepares (sands, washes) interior and exterior surfaces for paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or stain application using appropriate chemical , power and hand tools. Apply paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer and stain to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray guns. Mix paint to specified colors and textures using oil, thinner, drying agents and various pigments and solvents. Tapes, textures, caulks, glazes, patches, and fills holes on drywall surfaces. Finish or refinish furniture utilizing the appropriate procedures and materials. By preparing natural wood surfaces and applies stains, sealer, and varnish. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine equipment and materials required and methods of installation to complete project. Performs work in areas such as wallpapering, special effects painting, or specialized textures. Paints and installs baseboards, moldings, bulletin boards, sheet rock, etc. Read blueprints. Use riggings, hoist, ladders, scaffolding, lifts and other various equipment used in painting. Select brushes, rollers, pads, mitts and other related accessories for applying paint. Correctly store and maintain brushes and rollers. Calculate scaffold loads, area load, live loads, concentrated loads, and cantilevered loads. Safely operate and maintain all paint equipment. Use tools, materials and other methods for preparing surfaces for paint, and or coating. Identify different types of sealant and filters and apply these to construction substrates. Use sand blasting equipment correctly and safely. Identify failures of paints/coatings on exterior and interior substrates and find causes and remedies of these failures. Apply various clear finishes. Recognize and remedy paint/coating failures caused by improper preparation and application of coatings. Recognize and remedy coating discoloration. Use correct procedures for mixing, tinting, and matching colors. May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work area to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours using a vehicle, telephone, hand, power and specialty tools and necessary materials. Receives and reviews work orders/requests to determine, estimated cost and man-hour requirements. Requisitions and/or purchases supplies and materials. Performs prescribed maintenance checks as scheduled. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. Qualifications Completion of a technical program in one or more trades and a minimum of two years of general building maintenance experience. One year or equivalent experience as a Journey Maintenance Tech II preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers. Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend duty. The equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Must be able to speak English.
