Leave Administrator (Finance)
Job summary:
Oversee the administration and day-to-day aspects of the workers' compensation (WC) program and FMLA. Primary responsibilities for WC include claims monitoring, communicating with associates, managers, insurance carriers, medical staff, and attorneys to ensure the recovery of an associate to pre-injury status and to expedite their timely return-to-work. Primary responsibilities for FMLA include determining eligibility, tracking time, and communicating with associates and managers.
Essential functions of the job:
Workers' Compensation
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal workers' compensation regulations.
• Primary contact for all communication involving workers' compensation.
• Records and submits first repot of injury.
• Manage WC claims, including medical management, investigations, return-to-work program, and modified duty evaluations.
• Interface with associates, adjusters, and legal and medical professionals to ensure associates are receiving proper care.
• Coordinates with Human Resources on fit-for-duty requirements for each job description.
• Responsible for compliance of all OSHA determinations and filings.
• Monitors loss runs on a monthly basis.
• Renew Drug Free Workplace Certificate annually.
• Oversees at least two (2) safety incentives per year.
• Educate Associates on workers' compensation using a variety of methods including Lenbrook University.
FMLA
• Serve as the primary contact for all leave of absence requests.
• Evaluate and determine associate eligibility and leave history within required time frames.
• Receive, prepare, and monitor leave of absence paperwork; Ensures that appropriate paperwork is sent out and received in a timely manner.
• Communicates and provides explanation of approvals, denials, leave extensions, and other important information regarding leaves.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing leave programs and alignment with Lenbrook policy.
• Educate Associates on required federal and state documentation, eligibility requirements, leave entitlements and Lenbrook's leave of absence policies.
• Communicates with third party administrators regarding disability payments and approval status.
Skills and aptitude required:
• Possess a comprehensive knowledge of human resources, health & welfare benefits and leave administration.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results through appropriate allocation of resources, strong communication skills & sound judgment.
• Ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control projects to completion.
• Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
• Motivated to achieve goals beyond the average level of acceptance.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Critical thinker with problem-solving skills.
• Ability to research topics for best practices, policies and procedures and make recommendations accordingly.
Education and experience required:
• Demonstrated ability to utilize the DMAIC approach for performance improvement: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control
• B.S. degree required.
• Related Certification is a definite plus.
• Minimum of two years verifiable experience in a comparable position.
