Nursing Unit Manager (Healthcare)

Shift: Day (9am-5:30pm)

Job Summary:

Management of the nursing unit in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Position reports to the Director of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for nursing residents. This can include but not limited to the following: maintaining current health records, following up on incidents/issues with skilled nursing residents and/or meeting families as needed.
Monitor falls, infection control, skin issues, unusual occurrences, medicine delivery errors and other incidents.
Maintenance of quality assurance parameters on unit, including chart and log audits.
Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges for nursing residents.
Supervise the nursing staff. Participate in yearly evaluations and monitor staff for corrective action as needed.
Ensure proper in-servicing of staff.
Develop and maintain working relationship with professional providers of care to nursing residents.
Writes and reviews resident's assessments and plans of care with appropriate staff.
Plans and schedules staff training programs and in-services for the nursing staff.
Ensures compliance with all state regulatory requirements including mandatory reporting to State.
Ensures that all concern and incident reports are completed, filed and that follow-up is conducted appropriately.
Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations pertaining to Resident's accounts as it relates to Medicare, third party billing, etc.
Provide assistance to the Director of Nursing in special assigned projects.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with residents, department heads, co-workers, etc.
Possesses strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
Adheres to all policies and procedures of HutsonWood.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises other nursing personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities per center policies, practices, procedures, and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

RN or LPN license from an accredited school
One year of related experience (Preferred)
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.


Physical Demands: Role may require lifting and moving materials and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
