Group Sales Manager (Sales)



SUMMARY
The Group Sales Manager at Grand Targhee Resort is responsible for driving group, wedding, and wholesale sales initiatives, with a focus on maximizing occupancy and revenue. This role manages the entire front-end sales process--from initial inquiry to contract finalization--serving as the primary point of contact for clients during negotiations, proposals, and site visits. While this position does not execute events directly, it plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth handoff to internal departments. Success requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to deliver a seamless client experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead group, wedding, and wholesale sales efforts including bulk ticket sales, destination groups, weddings, and conferences.
2. Develop and implement sales strategies that align with resort revenue goals and market opportunities.
3. Actively pursue new business through proactive outreach, client meetings, industry events, and prompt response to inbound inquiries.
4. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the sales process, from lead generation through contract finalization.
5. Conduct site visits and familiarization tours, collaborating with Guest Services, Events, Lodging, Food & Beverage, and Operations teams to present the resort's offerings effectively.
6. Prepare and negotiate proposals and contracts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery, with appropriate discussions and approvals from involved departments.
1. Guest Services, Reservations and Food & Beverage will each have a dedicated liaison for Group Sales. This team will be highly collaborative in developing proposals and contracts.
7. Drive revenue across multiple segments, including lodging, weddings, events, ticketing, and ancillary services.
8. Work cross-departmentally to ensure a seamless transition once contract is signed from sales to operations, supporting a positive client experience.
9. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client feedback to identify new opportunities and adjust sales strategies.
10. Provide weekly reporting on sales activity, revenue performance, and strategic initiatives to the Director of Sales and senior management.
11. Represent the resort at relevant trade shows within the travel, tourism, and wedding markets.
12. Manage scheduling and approval of all meeting and conference space.
13. Maintain active involvement in the community and professional associations.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Proven ability to foster cross-department collaboration and build strong internal relationships, ensuring seamless alignment between sales, marketing, and operations to maximize group sales success.
2. Highly motivated and goal-oriented.
3. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
4. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with a positive, solutions-focused approach.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and strong general computer skills.
6. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment requiring creativity, energy, and sound judgment.
7. Flexibility to work varied hours and travel as needed. Some job sharing may be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Proven track record of success in hospitality sales, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
2. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or a related field.

The measurement of success will be monitored in the following:
· Annual Sales revenue budgets being met
· Increase group and customer satisfaction
· Create and sustain wholesale partner contracts
· Grow levels of group business compared to previous years
· Cross-department collaboration and satisfaction

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate vehicles, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and lift objects often up to 50 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate winter conditions, cold temperatures, summer conditions, wet conditions and warm temperatures.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests at all times.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
6. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
