Director Government Freight Operations (Finance)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Partner in the creation of strategic plans and recommendations for growth opportunities within the government operations business. Ensure government operations continues to meet or achieve financial and performance metrics. Work with the customer field team to grow opportunities for contract and operations expansion. Actively participate in contract and rate negotiations with service providers. Maintain customer relations and communicates with shippers to increase services and the tools available to them. Work with the vendor procurement and management team to ensure vendors are fully vetted and on-boarded for contract execution. Respond to government and PMO needs and handle complex problems. Lead a team of like minded logistics professionals across multiple modes TL, LTL, and Expedited. Develop new lines of service proactively or in reaction to specific contractual requirements. Forge cross business relationship with commercial logistics team to leverage overall volume.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, logistics or related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 6 years managing in 3PL environment with concentration in full truckload, LTL brokerage, and air or freight forwarding environment.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Proficient with computer programs that are used to manage and match shipment movements.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate strong communication, negotiation and problem solving skills with proven leadership ability. Ability to train others. Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of DOT regulations. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to apply skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Knowledge of environmental and legal issues that effect transportation of various commodities. Knowledge of U.S. Government and Department of Defense transportation requirements and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
