Shift Technician I - M-Th 2:30p-1a (Food Services)



Shift Technician

Tech is a family owned company that has been in business for over 80 years.  Our owners are investing heavily including increasing levels of automation.  We are looking for people who can help us get to the next level.  The successful candidate for this role will be comfortable with changing priorities, work that varies day-to-day, and frequent communication with supervisors.

Purpose: 

This position will provide hands-on support to operations, engineering and maintenance in a light manufacturing environment.  Will report to the Plant Engineer and will work closely with Production Supervisors and Operators to minimize downtime and safely deliver quality products at established machine rates.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Work injury free while ensuring the safety of others and that all equipment safety systems are operating as designed

Work closely with and train Operators to change tooling, set up machines and complete basic PM's 

Troubleshoot machine problems independently and with Operators, Engineers and Vendors

Maximize machine uptime and efficiencies 

Ability to determine and communicate priorities

Partner with Operators, Supervisors, Engineers and vendors to find and fix the root cause of safety, equipment reliability and quality issues

Participate in equipment design, specification and installation

Help develop standard work, teach Operators and certify them on machine operation

Complete PM's as scheduled and record time and materials electronically

Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to make sure critical spare parts are on hand and replaced when used

Drive a forklift as needed

Comfortable with mechanical, electrical work up to 240 volts and the daily use of computers/PLC's

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in technical discipline preferred
  • Certification in technical program and minimum one year relevant experience required
  • Lean Six-Sigma experience preferred\
  • Self-motivated to pick up new concepts with a passion for learning
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • General understanding of mechanical pneumatic, hydraulic, robotics, electrical and servo control systems
