POSITION TITLE: Sumtur Amphitheater Technical Coordinator REPORTS TO: Amphitheater Manager SUPERVISES: Stage Attendants and Volunteers PURPOSE OF POSITION: Works with Sumtur Amphitheater Manager and other staff to ensure proper operation of audio, lighting and projection systems throughout the facility. Incumbent will be responsible for operation and direction of entertainment production equipment as well as supervision of activities and staff in order to ensure a safe, clean and efficient operation of the facility. Also responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of stage, backstage and surrounding areas as necessary. Responsible for stage management/coordination during designated events to include assisting the setup of audio, lighting and projection equipment. Provide an appropriate audio mix, lighting and projection product suitable for the varied audiences at the Sumtur Amphitheater with a strong focus on corporate style events.An incumbent will be required to work varied hours during the week, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates with the amphitheater manager on all matters of entertainment production to include setup, upkeep, planning, and operation of installed and seasonal audio, lighting and projector systems. Principal mix engineer, lighting director, projectionist and technical director for amphitheater events. Responsible for the operation and cleanliness of the amphitheater building and stage. Coordinate with event staff including facility/concessions coordinators and facility/concessions attendants. Educate other staff members in the proper setup, operation and tearing down of entertainment production equipment. Ability to be trained on and operate boom lift and bucket lift for PA/lighting adjustments. Work with both internal and external customers to ensure a quality experience. Responsible for event reporting to include tracking inventory usage, ordering of technical related supplies, accident reporting, and daily work schedules. Responsible for collaborating with other event staff to ensure proper event preparation, execution and preparation for upcoming events. Responsible for hosting bands to include coordinating and implementing event hospitality needs. Incumbent must communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff and ensure that all requests or concerns are resolved quickly and effectively. Responsible for overseeing stage power operation. Responsible for setting and supervising safe entertainment production practices. Maintains inventory of all production equipment and supplies; orders and obtains supplies as authorized and according to policy. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties as directed or as the situation dictates. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY:Minimum of 2 years experience in entertainment production preferred.Proficiency in computer software programs, spreadsheet development, and superior customer service skills required.Proactive attitude, sense of humor, sense of urgency and attention to detail required.Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Must have an outgoing personality with strong customer service skills. Operational knowledge of entertainment production systems to include analog and digital audio, lighting and projection playback systems. Ability to work with event talent and musically mix and light stage events including but not limited to, single microphone narrations, small and large acoustic groups, multiple act talent shows and showcases as well as pop, country and rock bands of various sizes. Ability to setup installed stage audio and lighting, mic and sound check band within an average of 2.5 hours. Strong knowledge and safe operation of entertainment production and associated power systems. Strong leadership and managerial skills.Ability to meet and enforce standards without direct supervision. Ability to work within a team. Knowledge of city responsibilities and ability to use independent judgment in the performance of duties. Knowledge of and ability to perform input and retrieval functions utilizing a variety of computerprograms dealing with word processing, spreadsheet and databases. Ability to plan, organize, direct, instruct, and evaluate diverse special events adapted tocommunity preferences and needs. Ability to respond to sensitive matters and/or situations with discretion, tact and confidentiality. Ability to speak effectively in various public forums. Ability to work independently. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain various records, reports and other departmentaldocuments. Ability to plan and organize a personal work schedule, set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to perform job duties efficiently while managing frequent interruptions. Ability to respond and adjust to supervisor and customer feedback in a courteous and tactful manner. Ability to operate standard office, cleaning and entertainment production equipment. Ability to understand and comply with both oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various community groups,the general public, other employees, other governmental agencies and municipal officials. Ability to motivate others and build relationships with staff and volunteers. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES: 1. Must be 19 years of age or older2. Must possess a valid drivers license at the time of hire. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be performed indoors in an office setting or outdoors, over rough terrain, operating at various recreation facilities and varied event sites. Work requires a considerable amount of physical activity, including walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, lifting and carrying various supplies, equipment, files and other materials. The incumbent is required to frequently sit or stand for extended periods of time, talk, hear and must have the ability to transport themselves to and from various locations throughout the city. While performing the duties, the incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects or supplies and equipment. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various other pieces of equipment. Work may occasionally be required in times of darkness. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate, but maybe intense depending on scheduled activity.Work requires extensive interaction with the general public and other community groups and may be stressful when dealing with irate citizens and/or meeting deadlines.
