SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:
The National Infrastructure Coordinating Center (NICC) coordinates the national network dedicated to the security and resilience of the Nation's critical infrastructure (CI) by providing continuous (24 hours a day, 7 days a week [24/7]) situational awareness, facilitating information sharing, and fostering unity of effort. Establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with internal and external critical infrastructure partners is at the core of the NICC's ability to execute its functions. The NICC collaborates with DHS Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP) divisions, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Sector Specific Agencies, other Federal departments and agencies, and private sector partners (including critical infrastructure owners and operators) to monitor potential and developing threats to, and the current operational status of, the Nation's critical infrastructure sectors.
The Executive Briefing Team (EBT) is the element of the NICC that functions in all phases of NICC operations as an information fusion and briefing component for IP situational awareness and overall operational preparedness. The EBT synthesizes critical infrastructure information to provide daily strategic-level situational awareness briefings and decision support for IP and NPPD Senior Leadership. During incident operations or escalating situations that require ongoing reporting, the EBT forms the core of an expanded IP production staff that has 24-hour briefing capability and provides a suite of products including briefings and talking points.
The Senior Principal Security Specialist will provide operational expertise in performing threat analysis, vulnerability, and risk assessment and warning functions. The Senior Principal Security Specialist will also provide functional, management, and/or technical expertise in critical infrastructure protection, intelligence collection and analysis, law enforcement, physical security, and cyber security.
