Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots. Position Overview

The Relief Truck Dispatcher will manage the driver's schedule and routes while maintaining positive relationships with our internal and external customers, production teams and service personnel.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures as well as in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, MSHA, etc.
  • Manage the driver's schedules and routes.
  • Coordinate communication between drivers and sales department and other departments; Quality Control, Operations, Safety, Accounting.
  • Receive and review customer complaints, and work with other departments to solve issues.
  • Manage the utilization of hired haulers including requests, paperwork, payroll approvals and haul rates.
  • Manage the Track-It and SmartDrive systems.
  • Routing, tracking and cost coding of construction equipment.
  • Administrative duties include ordering and tracking fuel, reporting water truck meter readings to MUD, monitoring material piles, routing bank deposits, daily downtime reports and routing paperwork between plant locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Must have a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT requirements.
  • Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

  • Must have basic computer skills Must be able to utilize the internet and communicate effectively.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate/handle objects.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize office equipment including a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

While performing field duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. While performing non-field duties of this position, the environment is typical of an office setting and the noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
