Educator I (Education)



We are seeking a dynamic EDUCATOR to join our team! This individual will be responsible for the facilitation of learning experiences for the Johnny Morris Foundation which includes Wonders of Wildlife and other conservation attraction properties. This includes leading, facilitating with and assisting in the execution of educational programs; including summer camps, overnights, birthday parties, outreach, classroom, outdoor skills, guest engagement and community programs. The Educator I will also facilitate and execute dive shows, animal encounters, feeding experiences, tours, field experiences, and more.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to be used in working across programmatic suites, including team projects, facilitation of educational programs, teaching, etc.
  • Facilitate immersive educational programs and experiences for the Johnny Morris Foundation Conservation Attraction Properties.
  • Coordinate and conduct age-appropriate education and interpretive presentations, both on-site and off-site.
  • Facilitate and implement activities for special events such as banquets and events.
  • Coordinate, implement and present a variety of shows, presentations, and encounters for guests to experience while they are touring the facility.
  • Facilitate and assist with educational activities and presentations for overnights, birthday parties, camps and more.
  • Present a variety of education programs and workshops for school groups, WOLF School, home school, scout groups and other civic and community groups.
  • Provide input for interpretive exhibits and experiences within Wonders of Wildlife.
  • Handle and present a variety of small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects for educational programs and follow proper handling procedures.
  • Assist in WOW school and other outdoor skill and conservation focused programming
  • Ensure all safety procedures within the department are maintained and followed throughout the facility.
  • Ability to physically handle a variety of animals after completing appropriate training.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma required, college course work preferred (education, conservation or biological sciences).
  • At least 1-year experience working in guest services engaging and serving guest.
  • Strong teaching, interpretation and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication and hospitality skills, with the ability to interact with a variety of audiences, ages, and abilities in a professional and productive manner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other office equipment.
