What is an Application Specialist for Press Connection?
The Application Specialist is a role that will have focus on accelerating our design needs into a production machining environment. This role is expected to decrease component setup time by leveraging state of the art CNC and CAM technology. Introduction of “Made to Order” shop practices is desired. The Application Specialist will work with a dedicated and talented team of design and manufacturing engineers in this strategic growth business segment. This includes plumbing and electrical tool accessories, and new market applications. This role is located in our RIDGID® World HQ in Elyria (just a little west of Cleveland), Ohio USA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Generate and debug CNC 3 and 4-axis milling programs to manufacture new components in production
• Improve existing machining/programming processes to increase new component setup time
• Open and read CAD models to identify features and/or generate CNC code from CAM software
• Develop macros to generate multiple CNC programs for series of similar components
• Read and interpret drawings with Uni/Bilateral or GD&T tolerances (ASME Y14.5M)
• Run CMM programs to inspect and measure new components
• Read dimensional measurements to make proper machine adjustments and ensure capable processes
• Design machining fixtures for workpiece holding
• Design and/or select appropriate spindle tools
• Interface and coordinate with manufacturing and Product Engineering
Requirements
• 5 years of experience programming CNC milling machines for new or “made to order” components
• 5 years of experience using solid model CAD software
• Programming experience utilizing 3D part models (CAM software) or macros preferred
• Degree in Technical discipline such as Manufacturing Technology or Computer Programming preferred
• Equivalent on the job experience will be considered
• Esprit (CAM), Solid Edge (CAD), Solid Works (CAD), and/or Fanuc controls training will be considered
