Manufacturing Engineer (Architecture)
Determine necessary equipment, process design for assembly line and cellular manufacturing, and design criteria needed to manufacture Elgin products in an economical manner while maintaining fit, form, function and quality standards, thus insuring the optimum product is provided.
Generate routings for Elgin product without incurring unnecessary cost to the product.
Serve as lead manufacturing engineer for assigned product group. Providing proper documentation, training and communication of product /process related information to line supervision and shop personnel.
Suggest and work with Design Engineering to make improvements in the design of product to reduce cost, improve quality and manufacturability.
Utilize lean principles to implement change as a leader, participant, and initiator.
Lead process improvement projects for both the east and west end processes.
Investigate and make recommendations on the procurement of equipment to improve the manufacture of Elgin products.
Process Engineering Change Notices in a timely manner and communicate those changes to the appropriate shop personnel.
Improve safety in manufacturing by analyzing current and proposed manufacturing processes looking to reduce material handling and improve the ergonomics.
Develop and maintain work instructions for assigned area.
Process employee action items, non-conforming material and Corrective Action Requests in a timely manner.
Provide assistance to Marketing when needed by supplying labor and material costs for special equipment.
Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned.
Minimum of 2 years experience in manufacturing required.
Experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes that include laser cutting, forming, welding and machining required.
Experience in a production environment required; Line balancing and facility layout high desired.
Prior pull systems or cellular manufacturing experience is preferred.
Must posses and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be PC literate with daily working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.
Experience in using AutoCAD required. Experience with JD Edwards is a plus.
