Aircraft Mechanic I (Maintenance)
Performs routine and non-routine maintenance on Company aircraft, aircraft components and ground support equipment, with direct or indirect supervision. Performs routine shop and ramp upkeep. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs all assigned work in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo's Employee Handbook, LAC GMM and applicable CFR's.
Performs routine aircraft maintenance under direct or indirect supervision, equivalent with training level and demonstrated skills.
Records all work performed on appropriate forms and in accordance with LAC's GMM.
Assumes responsibility for the work performed as indicated by signature recorded on appropriate forms.
Works independently on well-defined tasks.
Reports any abnormal conditions or discovered discrepancies to appropriate supervisory personnel.
Performs maintenance on ground support equipment, as assigned.
Works toward obtaining a FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings, through documented on-the-job training.
May travel globally, as needed, to support LAC's fleet.
Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or minimum one year maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A single Rating, Airframe or Powerplant, is preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including but not limited to maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems in a highly controlled and regulated environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current US Driver License
Current US Passport
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be reliable and demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance duties. Manual dexterity and accuracy required.
Must obtain FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings through documented on-the job training within a reasonable period of time.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must furnish all hand tools of the variety and quantity to properly accomplish assigned duties.
Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time.
Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
