POSITION TITLE: SumTur Amphitheater Assistant Manager REPORTS TO: Amphitheater Manager SUPERVISES: Facility/Concessions Coordinators, Event Staff and Volunteers PURPOSE OF POSITION: Works with SumTur Amphitheater Manager to facilitate amphitheater events including but not limited to: supervising concession operations, inventory, financial reporting, cash handling, and managing facility staff. Incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of front of house operations to include enforcing standards for facility preparation, and customer experience. An incumbent will be required to work varied hours during the week, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for concession and facility operations to include enforcing Sumtur Amphitheater standards for cleanliness, customer service, cash handling, and event reporting. Responsible for cleanliness and readiness and post-event preparation of backstage, seating, grounds, rest rooms, parking, concessions and office areas. Responsible for tracking, ordering and receiving concessions inventory and cleaning supplies. Performs supervisory functions such as staffing, scheduling work, assigning and reviewing work duties, training personnel on various tasks, techniques and equipment, conducting performance evaluations and administering disciplinary action. Manage and oversee event staff including facility/concessions coordinators and facility/concessions attendants. Assists the manager with periodic updates of Web and Social media sites as directed. Assists the manager in the oversight, management, and training of all Sumtur Amphitheater staff. Assists the manager in the creation of the yearly budget and operational business plan. Assists manager in the research of appropriate grant opportunities that may enhance/support amphitheater operations and services. Works with the manager and other coordinators to maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment and supplies. Work with both internal and external customers to ensure a quality experience. Responsible for event reporting to include tracking sales, event inventory usage, ordering of concessions/ cleaning supplies, accident reporting, and daily work schedules. Responsible for collaborating with Technical Coordinator and technical staff to ensure proper event preparation, execution and preparation for upcoming events. Responsible for hosting and introducing events as necessary. Incumbent must communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff and ensure that all requests or concerns are resolved quickly and effectively. Responsible for overseeing Sumtur point of sale and ticketing systems. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties as directed or as the situation dictates. Assists with the daily operation of activity in the Recreation Office along with other staff. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY:Minimum of 2 years experience in event planning and/or management preferred.Proficiency in computer software programs, spreadsheet development, and superior customer service skills required. Proactive attitude, sense of humor, sense of urgency and attention to detail required. Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience required. Knowledge of management, instruction, and supervisory techniques.Knowledge of budgeting, planning, and problem solving techniques. Ability to motivate others and build positive relationships with staff and volunteers. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to plan, train, assign, direct and supervise work of subordinates. Experience with POS and ticketing systems preferred Must pass the ServSafe Manager Training class. Ability to lead and work within a team. Must pass the State of Nebraska Responsible Beverage online training course. Knowledge of cash handling and cost control procedures. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of entertainment, event and facility operations. Strong leadership and managerial skills. Ability to meet and enforce standards without direct supervision. Knowledge of city responsibilities and ability to use independent judgment in the performance of duties. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES: 1. Must be 21 years of age or older2. Must possess a valid drivers license at the time of hire. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be performed indoors in an office setting or outdoors, over rough terrain, inspecting recreation facilities and potential event sites. Work requires a considerable amount of physical activity, including walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, lifting and carrying various supplies, equipment, files and other materials. The incumbent is required to frequently sit or stand for extended periods of time, talk, hear and must have the ability to transport themselves to and from various locations throughout the city. While performing the duties, the incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects or supplies and equipment. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various other pieces of equipment. Work may occasionally be required in times of darkness. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate, but maybe intense depending on scheduled activity.Work requires extensive interaction with the general public and other community groups and may be stressful when dealing with irate citizens and/or meeting deadlines.
