Legislative/Communications Associate (Finance)
Government Affairs
Monitor and track federal congressional committee schedules as they pertain to rail-related issues.Coordinate and oversee variety of AAR sponsored legislative events including the annual Chafee Reception, Railroad Day on the Hill, and Legislative Conferences.Maintain current list of federal and state railroad government affairs executives and state railroad associations and assist in the publishing of the annual directory.Prepare and submit quarterly and semi-annual lobbying disclosure reports and ensure compliance with all relevant Congressional ethics rules.Assists in the administration of AARs political action committee, RAILPAC.
Communications
Media relations: monitor media coverage and track media requests; assist with daily clips and identify problematic information/opportunities for engagement; maintain media lists.Digital Channels (Website, Newsletters, Social) and Content: proofread, post and distribute content via AAR channels to reflect the editorial calendar; report performance and recommend improvements across all channels; check website functionality and update regularly; maintain content/messages repository, editorial calendar and social, newsletter and stakeholder lists.Coordinate and oversee variety of AAR sponsored communications events including media/third-party roundtables, weekly consultant meetings and others as needed.
