General Manager Aero & Defense (Finance)



The Sr Director GM Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense (HSS) holds overall profit-and-loss responsibility for this business within the HSS group. The Sr Director GM for Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense will drive breakthrough strategies to take the business beyond its current trajectory and will inject growth to more than double the size of the business over the next 3 years. The focus will be on accelerated growth by leveraging innovation and brand-new markets/applications and through streamlining of the core business.

The Sr Director GM will develop and implement business strategies to optimize and grow the business at or greater than market rates by making the most of product technology, new product development, innovation, voice of customer, manufacturing assets and engineering capabilities.

This key executive role will report to the President of the Honeywell Sensing Solutions (HSS) business and will be a member of the HSS Leadership Team located in Richardson, Texas. This role will have a team of direct and matrix reports responsible to drive strategy, deployment, daily execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

This growth-oriented role will have significant customer-facing engagement in leading and managing several key high-profile programs with regular updates to Industrial Automation (IA) and Honeywell senior leadership.YOU HAVE

  • An undergraduate degree in business, engineering or another technical domain.
  • Master of Business Administration preferred. Blackbelt, Lean or PMP certifications preferred
  • 10+ years leadership, strategy deployment, operations, business management, sales or program management experience
  • Significant experience with a large, global Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense. organization
  • Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense within a start-up organization / start-up business within a large organization
  • Demonstrated experience leading Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense products from design through to execution

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sr Director GM for Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense will own the business and performance across the entire product life cycle, including marketing, product management, research & development, operations, business development & sales, and regulatory & compliance all within a technical environment. They will have a solid understanding of their market position, competition and trends to enter into new markets to successfully achieve superior financial results as compared to peers in the industry.

  • Deliver on revenue growth, margin expansion, cost control and aggressive time-to-market commitments toward achievement of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and program commitments
  • Drives strategy execution that includes product cost and pricing optimization, customer & market segmentations, channel management, RDE investments, accelerating product life-cycle improvements and developing differentiated value propositions
  • Build out business development expertise and the global sales functions aligned to deliver on growth targets
  • Develop new product strategies, roadmaps, go-to-market strategies and product improvements across business lines aligned with the overall Industrial Manufacturing & Transporation or Aerospace & Defense strategy
  • Drive breakthrough initiatives and new product introductions across business lines using structured strategy deployment that provides for commercialization and quick execution
  • Use Z21 methodologies to create and evaluate business cases for launch. Convert Voice-of-Customer and differentiated technologies to market-back requirements and industry-leading system solutions.
  • Develops and executes creative sourcing and supply chain strategies to support New Product Introduction, as well as legacy/late cycle product cost, inventory, and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinates with ISC/Sourcing in support of supplier negotiations and performance management for delivery, quality, cost, inventory, and reliability, including supporting structured transition management.
  • Successfully leads the management operating systems to milestones, metrics and risk mitigation with customer engagement and disciplined scope management
  • Establishes and nurtures effective executive business relationships with key customers and suppliers/partners
  • Supports HSS President and team in leading the strategy and annual operating plans for the business
