Swim Instructor - Association Wide (Finance)
Must be at least 16 years of age
Current WSI or YMCA Swim Instructor or experience teaching swim lessons
Proficient in swimming and safety skills
Must be self-reliant and able to work well with parents and youth
Must be enthusiastic, creative, and motivated
Up to 6 months swim instruction experience preferred
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
Lead instructional swim classes as assigned following YMCA of the USA aquatic swim lessons guidelines
Having prepared lesson plans
Emphasize and maintain safety during all lessons, with constant surveillance of class participants
Enforce aquatic rules and policies
Record and maintain records as required
Act as Primary Responder in case of injury, accident, or illness in pool area and provide backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies and crowd control
Attend aquatic in-service and association swim instructor yearly in-service
Co-teach a minimum of one YMCA Swimming Lesson session with experienced Swim Instructor. Employee will need to demonstrate proficiency in all areas of swim lesson instruction as well as good class management. Approval by Aquatics Director / Coordinator before teaching on own.
