NP/PA Outpatient Neurology - Epilepsy - University Hospital (3160) (Healthcare)
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our ambulatory care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to: - Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary epilepsty neurology health team to provide comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. - UW Health's comprehensive epilepsy program offers care for patients with epilepsy or those suspected of having seizures. We can offer the latest in testing and treatment for your condition, whether it is medication, diet or surgery. Our goal is to prevent further seizures, avoid side effects and make it possible for you to live a productive life. - Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients/families with acute, chronic and/or potential health problems. - Perform procedures such as vagal nerve stimulator programming, neuropace stimulator programming, and deep brain stimulator programming. Education: Minimum - If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program. If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program. Licenses and Certifications: Minimum - If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND Active board certification as a NP in the following: Adult; Adult/Gerontology Acute Care; Adult/Gerontology Primary Care; Psychiatric-Mental Health; or Women's Health; or Family. If Physician Assistant: Active PA license in State of Wisconsin AND Active PA board certification. All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire. CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP). Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Professional demeanor. - Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. - Ability to prioritize tasks. Physical Requirements: Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. W ork Schedule: 100% FTE; core hours between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
