Major Duties:
Responsible for establishing and fostering relationships with key constituents of the ETF secondary market ecosystem (e.g., market makers, authorized participants and listing venues):
o Solicit firms to make markets in FlexShares ETFs.
o Monitor the market-making activities of strategic partners to insure breadth and depth of liquidity in quoted markets for FlexShares ETFs.
o Work collaboratively with ETF Product Management to secure seed capital for new products.
o Work collaboratively with ETF Product Management to manage relationships with authorized participants.
o Work collaboratively with Product Management to foster and manage relationships with listing venues.
o Develop trade analytics for proprietary and competitive ETF products in order to support:
o Sales and servicing professionals in positioning FlexShares ETFs with investing prospects and clients from a capital markets perspective.
o Product Strategy team's assessment/refinement of existing products and development of new investment strategies.
o Product Management team's identification and determination of product attributes that affect investors and capital markets participants.
o The broad ETF group and organization by developing educational forums and collateral for internal use.
o Marketing and business development professionals by contributing to thought leadership in the form of empirical research and topical communications.
General Management Responsibilities:
o Develop best practices for serving internal and external constituents in the areas of capital markets and delivering thought leadership in the area of trading and execution.
o Develop and implement ETF capital-markets process enhancements (administrative, operational, technological, etc.).
o Provide effective written and oral communications across all levels of the organization and across business units.
o Develop and implement effective risk-management practices.
o Team management.
Supports executive management with key business unit and corporate initiatives.
Knowledge:
• Exceptional organization skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment.
• Strong, demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, including experience in effectively communicating with international employees, colleagues, clients, and executives.
• Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills. Ability to forge strong relations with other senior personnel in the ETF Group and broader Northern Trust organization.
Experience:
• Bachelor's degree; Master in Business and Administration and/or CFA strongly preferred.
• At least ten years of post-graduate business experience (especially investment and/or capital markets experience), preferably with some type of ETF capital markets leadership and management experience.
• Strong, demonstrated proficiency in empirical research and analysis is required. Understanding of trading systems and applications is a plus.
• Investor-centric focus and entrepreneurial experience is also highly valued.
Salary Range:
$191,900 - $335,700 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
