Essential Function : The Fleet Support Specialist is responsible for supporting corporate fleet and field maintenance function with fleet and service support needs. This position is accountable for assisting in executing the tire management program through monitoring tire performance (wear pattern, damage, mileage accumulated etc.), reviewing performance data from supplier data and internal sources, develop/compile supporting information for tire performance and provide guidance as needed to CSCs. This individual will also support engineering function with compiling technical documentation for field publication and vendor support as assigned. In addition, support the other asset team analysts with review of data on fleet repairs/asset active status determination and monitoring fleet utilization/disposition in fleet list for data integrity. Some travel will be required. This position will be in Lisle, IL.
Position Objectives:
To minimize loss of tires due to damage; maximize tire life using data from supplier and internal data sources.
Work with supplier to appropriately determine cause for loss of tires due to damage; reduce to eliminate preventable tire performance issues to maximize value to the business.
To train the field maintenance organization on required corporate maintenance programs and best tire care practices.
Review quarterly tire yard study data and ensure specific actions are developed for local teams ensure implementation and follow-up as needed.
Work with asset management analyst to on-board new sites on to the program including training of shop personnel on the processes pertaining to proper execution of the program.
Provide expert technical advice to Technicians for daily issue resolution with tire management.
To actively partner with vendors to procure and deliver applicable training programs.
To ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements
In addition, assist field technicians in identifying information needed to perform repairs as needed and assist where applicable via phone calls and email messages in diagnosing vehicle performance issues.
At least 4 years' experience as a Technician / Mechanic or in a role analyzing vehicle system failures and developing corrective actions.
Expert hands on knowledge of the mechanics of school buses or other medium duty vehicles.
ASE certification a plus or should be willing and able to attain Master ASE certification within 18 months.
Fluent in: Microsoft/ Word, & Excel. Oracle Experience would be a Plus.
Associates or Bachelor's degree a plus with inclination and/or experience with on-road vehicle system operation and maintenance.
Ability to collaborate with OEM's to identify and deliver required training.
Communication and interpersonal skills to create an environment that encourages and values input and feedback from the maintenance & management workforce.
Strong work ethic and results orientation required for fast paced, customer-focused environment.
Required to travel across locations in US and Canada for up to 25% of the time or as needed.
