Position Description and Board Expectations:
In addition to Change Leadership, Collaboration, Philanthropy and Volunteerism, the board believes its new CEO should be an experienced leader who has the background and qualities that will permit him or her to achieve excellence in the following roles:
Advocate the vision of the YMCA and be the heart and soul of the operation: Actively interact and communicate with YMCA members, donors, and staff and volunteers and be seen as an active and integral member of the community. Act as an ambassador for the mission, cause and vision for the YMCA within the community and be seen and respected as a leader, with the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, while always upholding the highest standards of the values of the YMCA's heritage.
Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan: Have the ability to work effectively with volunteers and key staff to create and develop a strategic roadmap that addresses the needs of this YMCA with defined organizational strategies. Lead staff in the development and implementation of goals through an annual operating plan. Lead volunteers in aligning committees and their charts of work to support the strategies and goals of the association.
Nurture a Mission-Driven Culture: Champion a culture of inclusion, integrity, character and life-long learning within the Y organization that reinforces, encourages, and promotes values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. In alignment with the Y's mission, seek to foster an environment where diversity is celebrated and where all members, program participants, volunteers, and staff can reach their fullest potential.
Caused-Driven Leadership: Inspiring and mobilizing staff, volunteers, members, community members and community partners to strengthen communities. Passionate about giving their community a place to play, to learn, to be healthy, to eat well and give back. Creates a welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing environment and dedicated to making their community stronger.
Drive Operating Performance: Engage the board and staff to develop an annual tactical plan for achieving key YMCA goals and objectives. Remain fully informed of all operational issues, maximize operating efficiency and have the capacity to quickly address any issues that might arise as well as forecast future needs. Ensure responsiveness to rapidly changing competitive landscape. Manage and direct the Association's operations and activities.

Fiscal Management: Ensuring the Association's financial resources are properly managed and report the organization's financial position. Use high level of financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth and stability while consistently leading organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and contributions and controlling costs. Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation and maintain association commitment to funding youth and community outreach services. Develop and implement stewardship strategies.
Salary Range: Commensurate with accomplishments and experience

Minimum Candidate Criteria:
1.Accredited 4-year college degree (required; non-negotiable).
2.YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via YMCA of the USA).
3.Related graduate degree preferred.
Our History:
Founded in 1857 by E. H. Sabin, the YMCA is a volunteer-based organization that contributes to the lives of boys and girls, and men and women of all ages, races, religions, and economic backgrounds. We are a not-for-profit organization with the unique opportunity to touch the lives of infants through seniors throughout the community.
The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is blessed to offer the community four YMCA Branches that are committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by providing programs based on five basic character values–Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in Christ our Lord and Savior.
The Downtown, Dunigan, Outreach, Childcare Services and Camp Carson Branches are part of a worldwide movement in more than 130 countries, with over 2500 Branches in the United States.
Downtown YMCA
In June of 2018, the association launched the construction of a new YMCA in Downtown Evansville. This 80,000 sf facility is scheduled to open by the end of August. In addition to traditional YMCA facilities, 10,000 sf of the space will be leased by St. Vincent Hospital for the provision of physical therapy, rehab and primary care services. The total budget for the facility is $16.5 million and is funded through capital contributions (including grants and new market tax credits) of $12.5 million, a lease with St. Vincent Hospital and approximately 15% long-term debt. The new facility will be named the St. Vincent Evansville YMCA, in recognition of their lead capital campaign gift.
The YMCA has served the community in its current location since 1913 and this new facility will greatly enhance the services offered in Downtown Evansville. In addition, it will compliment a significant resurgence in growth and development in the downtown area that is highlighted by the newly opened Indiana University Medical School, located just five blocks from the Y. In addition, the area is experiencing significant residential and retail growth.
The new facility will include:

●Teaching kitchen to provide healthy cooking classes and promote healthy eating
●Group exercise classes from traditional Aerobics to Kickboxing and hot yoga
●Large indoor track
●Staffed Childwatch and Youth Activity Center for kids while their parent's workout
●Cycling Studio
●Youth STEM Lab and Enrichment Center to provide innovative programs to youth and teens.
Dunigan Family YMCA
Opened in 2005, the Lowell & Helen Dunigan Family YMCA is a facility for the entire family. The YMCA allows you and your family to become a part of a community, make new friends and enjoy your favorite activities. Amenities in our 59,910 square feet facility include:

●Family Gymnasium with full basketball court with goals lowered to 6′ for youth play/practice
●A family-friendly swimming pool with play features and two lap lanes

YMCA Community Outreach Branch
The vision of the YMCA Community Outreach Branch is to provide and promote quality programs that build character and self-esteem. Community Outreach Programs are designed to help at-risk youth reach their highest potential. In additional, these programs teach abstinence, anger control, positive decision-making skills, and provide quality activities after school.
Our Community Outreach Branch is comprised of five program areas YMCA Community Action Program (Y-CAP), DIAMONDS, Youth Leadership & Sports, the Caldwell Community Outreach Center, and Dunigan Outreach programs. Y-CAP and DIAMONDS have been taking place since the Branch's inception, and even more youth are served each year because of the addition of the other three areas. YMCA Camp Carson
Summer 2019 celebrates YMCA Camp Carson being a place of adventure for our 80th summer. Campers and staff from around the country and around the world attend YMCA Camp Carson, southern Indiana's premier overnight summer camp. spread over 250 acres in Gibson County, IN.
In the last 4 years Camp Carson has experienced significant growth resulting from the investment of nearly $4 million into property, plant and equipment, funded by an ongoing comprehensive capital campaign. This campaign has resulted in the construction of 12 new cabins, a new staff wellness center, new aquatics center, and Infirmary/nurses quarters. The construction of a new opening campfire site was just completed and plans are in place for a new Horse Facility and Adventure Village. Camp is on pace to have waiting lists for nearly all open registration weeks for the summer of 2019 and is positioned well for future growth.
Childcare Services Branch (Before & After School Childcare and Summer Day Camp)
With the YMCA Summer Day Camp, children get a real sense of what summertime is all about. YMCA Day Campers pack more into a summer than they ever thought they could. A series of 11 one-week sessions are offered at six locations all summer long. Girls and boys, ages 5 to 10, are given the opportunity to meet new friends while experiencing the fun and excitement summertime brings. The YMCA offers camps serving more than 500 kids pre-day during the summer.
The YMCA is the leading provider of before and after school childcare in the region. Each school day, Y staff serve over 700 kids per day in partnership with school corporations and parochial schools in three counties. We help hundreds of children every day reach their fullest potential in a welcoming, supportive environment. By incorporating the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into all of our youth services programming, we give children the solid foundation they need to thrive—not only in school, but beyond. Our School Age Child Care Programs ensure that your child's time is spent creatively and constructively.
Governance: The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is governed by a 37-member Board of Directors. The board is committed to ensure ethnic, gender, age and industry diversity is represented. Currently the board consists of 8 female and 27 males.
Staff: The association employs approximately 550 team members - 48 full-time and 500 part-time. This mosaic of talent is comprised with a multitude of skills, abilities and experiences that create balance and inclusivity for all.

Financial Position:
The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana has budgeted revenues of $11.5 million. The Y's strong financial health has resulted in the current construction of a new Downtown Branch. The 80,000 square feet facility, including a partner space of 10,000 square feet, has a projected finish date of August 27, 2019. The YMCA has solid operating reserves and a consistent approach to funding deferred maintenance.
For 2018 The YMCA raised over $456,000 in its annual campaign.
Financial Assistance:
The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is committed to remove financial barriers to membership and programs. The association provided $500,000 in support annually through scholarships and sliding scale memberships. Additionally, the Y has awarded over $130,000 in scholarships to kids attending YMCA Camp Carson.
