Lead Chemist (Finance)
Main Activities/Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent contributes to the profit objectives of the H/K, SIA, and TSS market segments by assisting in the development and testing of new products that reflect PPG's quality and meet customer requirements. The incumbent will support product development via preparing laboratory samples, carrying out design of experiments (DOE) studies, application testing and performance testing. The incumbent will also be responsible for interacting with the Cleveland and Euclid plant production personnel and QA personnel to assist with problem resolution as it pertains to formulas. The candidate will be responsible for formula filing and formula maintenance, using R12 and GSM. The lead chemist will provide the overall direction and help set priorities for the team associates.
Education & Experience Necessary
Chemistry Degree with experience in a Technical or Quality Control lab environment.
Functional/Technical Expertise Necessary
An understanding, experience and ability to work with a broad range of coating technologies and process equipment is desired. Ability to understand, record and verbalize detailed information accurately is required. Excellent attendance is required as well as the ability to work independently. A deep understanding of R12, GSM, FLC, line workability, and customer specification testing are a must. Initiative and strong work ethic are ideal.
