ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
2. Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws. Drives vehicle from loading area to assigned sited, following assigned schedule without making unauthorized stops.
3. Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and records all information.
4. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms; services vehicle with fuel, lubricants and accessories. Cleans out bus each day.
5. Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
6. Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor, including recording and reporting difficult behavior; reports any disruption of transportation service to other YMCA staff via cell phone.
7. Performs passenger count before and after each pick up/drop off to ensure that all passengers are accounted for (matching face to name).
8. Maintains a safe and orderly environment on the bus by ensuring that bus rules are announced and followed; conducts safety drills as required; keeps first aid supplies fully stocked.
9. Assists disabled passenger into and out of the vehicle.
10. Completes annual bus training as required by ODJFS.
11. Reports and changes in personal driving status (license, tickets, points) to supervisor immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must be at least 21 years old and possess appropriate class license.
-Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
-Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.
-Must complete the ODJFS approved YMCA Bus Driver training
-Must be approved to operate a YMCA vehicle through the YMCA's insurance company and pass a driver's background check.

-Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
-Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
-Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
-Must submit all required paperwork for ODJFS licensing. Must submit a staff medical statement as required by ODJFS standards. Must obtain and keep current training certifications in first aid,
-communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention as required by ODJFS. Must attend all necessary YMCA, child care and/or grant related training.
