Steele County's Public Health Nurse Team represents a broad classification of professional public health positions focusing on improving the health of individuals, families, groups and the community by providing the following:
Skilled nursing services and health education through WIC, Maternal and Child Health, Family Home Visits, New Mom/New baby Visits, Improved Pregnancy Outcome Visits and Immunizations.
Provides nursing care assessments, develops care plans and assists clients to recognize, accept and adapt to health care needs and issues.
Collaborates with other care providers, care professionals or community services in coordinating client care/services.
Implements and conducts various community health screenings/testing/immunization clinics/services.
Assists in the response to disease outbreaks and/or emergency preparedness events.
Conducts public health education services and activities around nutrition, parenting, child development.
Keeps abreast of changing legislation, trends, policies, and developments in areas of responsibility in order to best serve their clients.
Participates in and/or serves on various multidisciplinary committees or local community involvement groups, as appropriate.
